Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a really enjoyable Christmas; MDMS is revving up for another year of theatrical fun and frivolity – starting with Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (or 747, as we’ve nicknamed it; it’s faaaaaar too long to keep typing all the time). The production team – Adrian, Vicki, Miranda, Jo and Kelly – have all been hard at work, throwing about ideas and getting ready for rehearsals to start in March.
Over the festive season, we’ve had more carols than we knew what to do with. A group of MDMSers went carolling around some of the local hospitals, spreading general joy and delight to those who were laid up in bed during Christmas. It’s always both a fun and moving experience and very much appreciated by both the patients and the staff. Many thanks to all who attended, and particularly to Robyn Westwood, our fabulous choir leader, and Linda Neate, who was our accompanist at the rehearsals. Thanks ladies!
And if singing carols at hospitals wasn’t enough, we once again had a big contingent of MDMSers singing in the choir at the Melbourne Carols by Candlelight in the Sidney Myer Musical Bowl on Christmas Eve. This has become something of a tradition for the company and it’s always fun for the HEAPS of people who come along to by the Carols night and the rehearsal night to play a bit of ‘MDMS bingo’ by watching for all the familiar faces.
We have quite a few photos of both the carols at the hospitals and the Carols by Candlelight – some are being posted here, but a full selection will be posted on both our Facebook page and our Flickr page. Below is a fabulous selection of photos put to music by the lovely Amy Cumming – thanks Ames!
